Scio Church Road construction begins April 18th (including Scio/Seventh intersection)

May 16th Update: A new traffic control plan is scheduled to begin Tuesday May 21, 2019:

A temporary traffic control plan will be in place beginning Thursday, April 18 while resurfacing work takes place on Scio Church Road, between South Main Street and South Seventh Street. I've copied the detour map below.

Construction involves resurfacing Scio Church Road between South Main Street and South Seventh Street, and completing the sidewalk along the north side of Scio Church Road.

Also - based on feedback from the public workshop (March 13, 2019), online survey (March 4 through 17, 2019), and additional engineering analysis, changes to the S. Seventh and Scio Church intersection will be made. The treatment presented as "Concept 4" (see picture below) will be constructed.

For more information about the construction plans, please visit the City website:

There is a public meeting scheduled for April 25th about the intersections at Seventh/Scio Church and Seventh/Stadium:

As I posted previously, Scio Church Road construction was temporarily halted during the winter months:

Temporary Traffic Control Plan:

Beginning 9 a.m. Thursday, April 18, eastbound traffic on Scio Church Road will be detoured north along Greenview Drive to West Stadium Boulevard, then east along West Stadium Boulevard to South Main Street, then south along South Main Street to Scio Church Road. One lane of westbound traffic will be maintained at all times along Scio Church Road during this phase of the project, and local access will be maintained to all properties. The Scio Church Road Service Drive will remain accessible during the work as well.
